with
extreme low toe weighting to increase the moment of inertia for added
forgiveness and consistency. The large, perimeter-weighted head features a new
cavity shape and wider sole.
The
center of gravity is positioned
away
from the face and low in the club head to promote higher launching, lower
spinning shots. By creating a new shape for the Custom Tuning Port (CTP), PING
engineers stabilized the hitting area to produce consistent ball velocity
across the entire club face. An elastomer CTP insert helps control vibration
for a solid feel.
The G10 is basically a
better version of the G5. I believe that these irons launch a little higher due
to the slight changes in weight distribution from the G5, but overall they are
basically the same iron and carry the same distance
When I hit some balls with last month, I will admit, I was impressed. I was
able to square it up and the ball just jumped off the face! The ball launches
high and really stays airborne for a longer period of time than that of the G5.
While this does not equate to more distance, it makes it a little easier to
work the ball even though working the ball was not very easy with these woods
as I was unable to hit a fade with this club.
Overall, I would suggest these irons to anyone. I would also suggest using the
Ping WRX club fitting service. Spend some time with your local pro or club
maker and find a shaft and loft combination that will work best for you. There
are many lofts available and your pro or club maker will get you fit into the
right set up for you. Pings iron fitting is legendary, there are so many
options in the WRX department.
Callaway X Tour Irons are amazing clubs for intermediate players who
have developed a good swing and are on their way to becoming more
consistent in their approach. They have a modest degree of forgiveness
while giving great feedback. They allow a player enough control that
they can advance their game and not let the club do all the work for
them. Callaway X Tour Irons are perfect for those players who want a
set of clubs they will not grow out of. These wonderful irons progress
with the intermediate player as they advance and remain a perfect fit
even at very low handicaps when your game is on par.
These irons
work best for those players who are sure of their shot. If you have
developed your swing to that point you are ready for a set of irons
that deliver precision and the Callaway X Tour Irons will give it to
you. On the occasions when you still mis-hit these clubs will be
unforgiving to a large degree, however unlike some clubs they won't
sting your hands. Slight errors are compensated for but you will find
yourself discovering where your problem areas lie and learning how to
correct them to get the best performance from these irons.
